Prepare For A Good Sleep

Prepare for good sleep conditions

SLEEP IN THE DARK

Make sure your bedroom is dark. Close all the blinds. Use thick dark-colored curtains if you want the bedroom darker.

When you take a nap during the day, cover your head with a soft pillow or a bathrobe without blocking your breathing. This can make it much darker for you to sleep better.

Do not keep any lights on. If you have to keep a light on, use a dim light close to the floor. It should not shine on you while you are sleeping.

ROOM TEMPERATURE

You can wake up at night if it’s too hot or too cold.

Find the most comfortable room temperature for your home and the season, usually between 70F – 80F. For example, the most comfortable room temperature for a single-level house on a hot summer day may be 80F.

FANS

Use a quiet ceiling fan to slowly circulate air in the bedroom on hot stuffy days.

You should not feel any wind directly blowing on your head or body. The wind blowing directly on your head or body can prevent you from having a good deep sleep and wake you up.

BED

Use a quality pillow that makes you feel most comfortable. Certain types of pillows (including expensive ones) may cause you sudden serious neck pain.

Sleep on a quality mattress that makes you feel most comfortable. Also give your child a comfortable mattress. For example, your child may sleep better on a queen mattress than a kid’s mattress.

Use 2 layers of comforters. Thick and heavy comforters may help you fall asleep faster and stay in a deep sleep longer.

Wash beddings at least once a month.

Keep your bed clean and tidy. Do not eat or drink in your bedroom.

BEDROOM FURNISHING

Avoid distractions to your sleep. If possible, do not put any TV, phone, tablet, computer, or books in your bedroom.

Keep your bedroom simple, clean, and tidy. Minimize decorations. Keep only essential items in your bedroom.

Hang a pure wooden cross on a visible spot near your bed.

Sleep hours

Go to sleep early, at least by 10:30 p.m. Make sure you have about 8 hours of sleep every day.

Do not get up very early to study or work, especially if

  • you always work hard but produce little fruit; or

  • you often struggle to win important battles against evil spirits.

Instead, sleep in as much as you can.

Avoid exhausting your spirit

When your spirit is exhausted, your spirit cannot prevent evil spirits from causing you serious sleep problems.

Your sleep and food only provide a certain amount of energy for the day. If you work too much, your spirit can be exhausted. So do what’s absolutely necessary. Reduce and simplify non-essential tasks, such as cooking simple dishes. Spread your work over a longer period of time if necessary.

In addition, most video games are fast-paced, and filled with a lot of fear and stress. They can quickly exhaust your spirit and make you scared and depressed. Consequently, please completely cut off video games.

Avoid drinking a lot of fluid in the evening

Drink plenty of water during the day. However, avoid drinking a lot of fluid in the evening. Then you don’t have to get up to use the bathroom.

Drink tea and coffee occasionally

When you drink a lot of tea or coffee, you may hardly feel sleepy day and night. Consequently, please avoid drinking tea and coffee regularly. Instead, drink tea and coffee on special occasions only.

Set an alarm clock

Set an alarm clock to wake you up in the morning.

Then no matter when you wake up at night, do not check the clock. This can help you avoid unnecessary stress, and prevent you from waking up further.

Do not wake up completely during sleep time

Your spirit and human body need sufficient good sleep and rest to function properly. If you always wake up completely during sleep time, it can cause you serious health problems in the long term.

Even when you are awake to some extent at night, if you keep quiet and still and try to fall back asleep, your spirit and human body can still get some sleep and rest.

The more you wake up, the less sleep and rest you will get. So avoid waking up your spirit and human body completely during sleep time. For example, do not get up. Do not turn on the light. Do not use your phone or tablet. Do not watch TV or read books. Do not write anything.

If you sleep excessively

An adult typically needs about 8 hours of sleep every day. If you sleep for 10 – 12 hours every day, it shows that your spirit and your human body cannot get sufficient sleep and rest within 8 hours. Therefore, you must sleep for 2 – 4 hours longer to get enough sleep and rest.

If you are struggling with deep depression, you may sleep for 16 hours every day. This is because your spirit is too exhausted and your human body is very weak.

Consequently, it is not bad that you sleep for 10 – 16 hours every day. This is how your human body and your spirit can get sufficient sleep and rest to keep functioning every day. However, it does show that your sleep quality is poor, your spirit is exhausted, and your human body is weak. Please follow the suggestions in this “Sleep Series” to improve your sleep quality.
